Government Targets $5 Billion by 2025, Recognizes Innovators
Bangladesh’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector is poised for a major push, aiming to increase software and tech services exports from $1.4 billion to $5 billion by 2025. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak announced this ambitious goal at the Basis International ICT Awards 2022, held on October 31st in Dhaka.

The awards ceremony, organized by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), honored 68 innovative tech projects across 36 categories. These award recipients will now have the opportunity to compete in the prestigious Apicta Awards, often referred to as the “Oscars” of technological innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Minister Palak emphasized the crucial role these award winners will play in achieving the country’s export target. He announced plans to create 3 million tech jobs to meet the growing global demand for Bangladeshi software and services.
